KT1000/S™

The KT1000/S™, the new intraoperative version of the KT1000™. It has been developed to provide objective, intraoperative measurement of sagittal plane measurements of the tibia relative to the femur at the joint line.

The KT1000/S™ may be used to measure both knees of a patient under anesthesia before reconstructive surgery and intraoperatively to document that normal knee laxity has been established.

The KT1000/S™ is based on principles of instrumented knee testing which are incorporated in Knee Ligament ARTHROMETER® models KT1000™ and KT2000™ . The accuracy of the KT1000/S™ is to within a fraction of a millimeter. No adjustments for accuracy are needed. Clinical measurements taken with the KT1000/S™ are accurate, repeatable and comparable to measurements taken under the same conditions with the KT1000™ and KT2000™. KT1000/S™ measurements have been shown to be within 1 mm of KT1000™ measurements taken on the same day, on the same subject, under anesthesia. Therefore, pre- and post-operative measurements taken with either the KT1000™ or KT2000™ may be readily and accurately compared to intraoperative measurements taken with the KT1000/S™.

The KT1000/S™ is designed to give the orthopedic surgeon immediate measurements of knee laxity while in the O.R. The device may be used with or without the stabilizing straps, depending on the surgeon's technique.

Instrumentation

ARTHROMETER® Model KT1000/S™.  A mechanical anterior/posterior tibial displacement measuring instrument.  Metal construction is designed to withstand steam autoclave sterilization.  Instrument weight: 2.9 pounds. (May require periodic factory service after approximately 200 steam cycles).

Straps. Detachable straps may be used to add instrument stability.

Carrying Case. Stainless steel case protects KT1000/S™ during storage and steam sterilization. Contoured design permits case to be used as a thigh support platform.
